Default Vt stalling / running rough HELP PLEASE!!!

hey all! 1st post, now calling on all JC forum members.
I have a VT commodore the past few days it has been playing up.
I have since replaces the CAS, but this has not fixed my problem.
The issue i have is when my car get warm, eg. engine fans kick in, it idles really rough.

    The symptoms are
    RUNS FINE WHEN COLD!
idles rough when warm (sometimes), eg when fans come one.
cuts out if engine revs are not brought up from idle when running rough. (after a little bit)
if idleing rough, you (stab) at the throttle the car will cut out.
if revs are brought up from idle slowly the car will splatter and backfire, pop and bang and make all funny noises. (but will continue running) sorta like its running rich. but no smoke.
when car cuts out, it starts 1st time (most times) it doesnt require a lot to get going again.

I have checked the fault codes by bridging the 5&6 pin together in the diagnostic connector, i only replaced the CAS because it went on me before, i had a second hand one in there and just thought it was that playing up again!. i have since replaced the sensor, BUT it did not fix the problem, no other codes other than 12 are present (running fine) so the car rekons.

I was thinking maybe the maf sensor or the o2 sensor on the exhaust,
Its a vt calais v6 auto. and help would be greatly appreciated.
    cheers Duane!!!

Is the thermo fan kicking in DIRECTLY related to it starting to idle rough? ie. is it fine then all of a sudden the thermo fan comes on and the idle goes haywire? Or does i just happen around the same time?

Well from what i gather , the car will run fine, until the engine fan kicks in. it is almost the same time. but i cant say for certain.but it is a temprimentle problem , sometimes it will run fine then it wont, i have checked all the codes and there are none presesnt.i will look into the coil packs & plate, but i am unsatisfied that this is the issue, but worth a look.

Spark plugs arnt that old, i did replace them with others ,problem still there.

Question. if the coil packs are stuffed do they do the same as the old VN's, crack etc. or what would i be looking for???

I was thinking more along the lines of the egr sticking, electrcaly its fine, So it says, mechanically , i am not so sure, i might have a stab at it,

Would a MAF sensor cause this kind of issue????

    Cheers guys!

the maf sensor would only do this if its not connected. ur vt coils packs wont fit a vn vice versa. ecotec ones are different. u say its fine when cold but when it heats up its screws up.. when was ya last service? coolant looks alright? i say give ya plenume a clean with carby cleaner. if ur after new coils i have a set here for 50$ make sure ya maf aint damaged. does it misfir and stuggle under hard acceleration if its that its deffently ignition related.

is there a sucking noise from the throttle body area? even if there isn't check anyway, take off the plastic engine cover, theres a vacuum line the comes out the bottom of the throttle body and goes under the intake plenum, this vacuum line always pops out of the rubber elbow from the bottom of the throttle body...i have seen hundreds of ecotecs with this prob, makes them run rough and stall....just glue it back in so it doesn't fall out again.... hope thats your problem cuz its an easy free fix
