alarms+immobiliser makes your insurance cheaper. id rather have an alarm that deters theft of my goods, then let some punk steal my ride, thrash it around and let it be found a couple days later by the cops, and go through the whole ordeal of getting it repaired and police reports.... yikes.

Have you tried going to an actual alarm place and getting them to help you out?

And how many insurance companies offer to insure a 'high risk' car without an alarm?

have installed this on my VR and it works well. installation was a little confusing, but i posted up the necessary info on here so youre covered there if you want to install it yourself.

mine has the glass break/shock sensor, and ive tested both and they work pretty well. its a hell of a lot better than having no alarm. its got two immobilisers that you can hook up to seperate wires. for example, one of mine is connected to the fuel pump.

The money i have spent on the car is irrelevant. Its more about the time, effort, blood and sweat thats gone into it. It also holds a very high sentimental value.

Iam not saying alarms are shit but if someone wnats to get ur car u can spend all the money in the world to protect it some asshole is gona think of a way to get ur pride and joy, and with all the extra stuff u install in ur car even if ur car did get knocked off they would only pay u either market value or agreed value the extra stuff u put on say goodbye unless u pay extra every year on ur insurance which would be very steep, In todays society people break into cars with alarms and no one even gives a f@$ anymore dont tell me when u hear a car alarm u run up to see whats going on be honest? Not disputing that alarms arnt good but they only do there job as much as they can they dont give u guarantees but then again id rather have me car stolen and never recovered then have someone destroy it heaps from trying to open it atleast an alarm can stop em from stealing valuables inside the car which no one should leave anyway...

mmm i know where your coming from, if they want it bad their gonna take it. But its and added deterrent. And as long as you dont park yr car in a secluded location it will work pretty well. Once they have set the alarm off it will get some attention and i also try and park in buzy areas or where there is security guards. I would rather have a few broken windows than no car.

viper 700 uses factory remote, so all factory options ie boot release, i have mine wired so the immobilizer interrupts power to PCM which is the commodores main weak spot. battery backup siren, flashes lights when arms or disarms and chirps (program on or off) programable auto arm if you forget, if power interupted will remember if armed or not (many default to disarmed). As the VX (maybe VT, not sure) uses a power save feature many alarms will false when the BCM goes into power save mode. so check before you buy

Sorry I have the viper 300 in my pontiac, viper 700XR is for commodore. as for longer alarm time it is illegal to go for too long (not sure how long). some vipers can be programmed to 3 minutes, but needs a special handset. they do go off again if the reason is still active for 3 times.
