Default VX with a poked engine

I posted the other night about my gearbox going , well i went down to holden after a few hours of the tow truck dropping off the the VX super 6.

Its not the box, its a conrod blew a hole threw the back/bottom of the block taking the sump with it, the head mech hasnt seen anything like it.
He goes "did you over rev it and miss a gear before it blew" I said " how the **** do i miss a gear...its an auto" Oh shit he goes, its deff a warranty issue LOL.

They better foot the whole bill, not like 2 months ago when they paid for just half of the belt tensioners and half the oil...WTF???

If it turns all to shit and im footing majority of the bill am i better off fitting the same engine second hand for around 1.5/2k or should i transplant a V8 into it?

I want honest opinions with links to tutorial/write ups if i should up grade to a V8 (since me not the warranty company will pay).

    Much respect guys.

Because it was just over 6 months between service, never mind it always gets its 10 thou service.

Ok guys I need some help here who has a super 6 engine for sale that can go on a pellet, or how knows a reputable wrecker I can use , it will be freighted to Toowoomba. I have a quote of 2 and a half from the local wrecker when they can get them.

    Any help is appreciated guys.

Bloody super sixes...if you were buying new motors the V8's are cheaper from holden. but yeah from a wrecker the 6 would be cheaper.

what an a-hole of a thing to happen!
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
    PM with any info.

Keep an eye eBay as well, I saw a worked super-6 going for just over 1k about a week ago. Would have snapped it up if I wasn't more interested in my manual conversion

Your right. The more I read and phone around the more im leaning towards getting a gen 3. Theres a top bloke on eBay that sells them by the dozen and we got talking last night and i may go that route. Hes can supply the lot from engine, auto box, extractors, compresser, computer, harness and i think it was the K frame too for 4.5 delivered to my door.

They get snapped up real quick eh. Even one wrecker that travels for the damaged vehicle auctions says its a real bidding war between the other wreckers when the SC cars come around.

    Update*
This morning it will get taken from Holden (who cant source an engine be it long or short) and will be transported to brisbane.
A fully recond engine new everything, oversized pistons , repainted etc..
The cost is under 5k that includes transport both ways, they pull it out, install new one, balance it all up, fine tune it all. And I should have it back by friday next week with a 3 year unlimited km warrant.

I was going to do it all myself but because of the warranty and the amount of beer i would have to buy the boys while its going in, this is the cheaper option.
It also means I keep the worthless existing warranty and get the new installers one to (regular servicing of course) .

So I guess after this I'll be keeping this car for some time as i'll never get near what it owes, oh well.

Thanks for all the responses guys.
