Your CD Player should have a REM wire (blue) this is a remote on switch more or less. Its for turning your amps on when you turn your head deck on. On the factory wiring there is a wire for making the aerial go up when the factory stereo turns on "Antenna power (12V) Yellow/Red". So basically join the two and the arial will go up and down when you turn your head deck on and off.

    It's to easy

my housemate has a vy ss with an aftermarket dvd player and the aerial goes up and down when the stereo goes on or off, but the annoying thing is even when your listening to a cd/dvd the aerial stays up... is there any way to only have it go up when its on a radio frequency like my caprice?

sorry to hijack the thread but saves me making a new one when this is so similer

    cheers, Walesy

The amp control wire from the head unit goes to the remote wire on the antenna.
The other wire from the antenna runs to a streight 12v source like your accessories or battery.

Just be careful though, the yellow wire is usually your power or acc wire.
The remote wire is usually blue.

To confirm it referr to your owners manual for the h/u
