Is the security light in the mode switch flashing while you are trying to start it?

    Hi mate,

There are a lot of reasons that could cause your problem. Does the car actually start and run for a few seconds or does it shutdown pretty much straight away? If the latter, it could be your BCM, the same thing happened to me when my BCM died, the immobiliser couldn't be disengaged so it would kick over and die straight up.

If not that, the usual suspects I suppose, fuel pump (can you hear the buzzing when you turn the key to the "on" position?), a cactus starter motor, battery earth cable or starter motor wire come loose, a faulty relay, lots of things.

Check your error codes as well.

That's good, the immobiliser is turning off then. Your problem sounds fuel related. These symptoms happened to me last week, turned out I didn't have enough fuel even though my Distance To Empty reading was not as low as it often gets.

When you got the car, did you do any maintenance before driving it? If it was sitting unused for 18 months, I would have had a good look at fuel filter, maybe even drained the fuel tank to get rid of sediment and other crap and then put on a new filter and fill it. I would also look at plugs, air filter, coolant etc.
