I have not long had the VU SS ute and notice the engine and gearbox give off quite a lot of heat after a bit of driving..I am in the process of insulating the gear boot to help.. but ..although the temp gauge in fine..I feel in Summer the heat given off by these may be a worry..just wondering what else I can do to help keep the temps down under the bonnet.
My bonnet itself does not have any insulation on the underside like some have..would this help?
The car also has extractors will thermo wrapping them help?..monaro type scoops may also be a way to go or exit type "gills" at the rear of the bonnet.???.
Just looking for a few options to keep it cool...that being said the cat sure likes sleeping on the bonnet..
cheers.
Are you more worried about the engine getting hot or everything around it warming up?
insulating the bonnet and extractors will only cause heat to remain in the engine. It'll also encourage your pipes to rust. Not really worth it on a street car. Bonnet insulation is usually for noise prevention.
