Question Vt Series 2 Overheating Tryed a few things already.

When im idling it goes up to half way then fans usually kicks in and drops it down, but then i pulled up out front of my house and held revs down to about 2.5k - 3k max, which braught the temp gauge right up, to where the light flashes. It only started fully overheating today, but a week ago is when the gauge started going up half way when i was in adelaide.

Check everything over before the trip and it was all fine.

I replaced the thermostat (81C), cleaned out the block and fully flushed the car 9000kms ago.

I really have no idea what to do, would it be worth taking it to my local holden dealers to put on the computer or getting them to have a look at it?

Also the motor came out of a car that was in a rollover, the motor itself has only done 80,000kms. Don't know if that would matter or not.

Hopefully someone has an idea because i dont haha, someone said to me it may be a sensor?

    Cheers Hendo.

im assuming its an ecotec.. when u flush it put the hose into the heater hose because thats the output from ya water pump.. if its blocked u will notice it.. take off ya radiator cap and let the crap flow out there.. when refilling add 5L of concentrate because there is already 12L of water in ya engne.

Yeah i made up a neat thing couple weeks ago where you put the air compressor on it and connect the hose as well, works a treat.

i had this a while ago and it turned out to be the radiator cap not letting the coolant return from the bottle. for $15 its worth a go
