Hi guys,
My VY S/C V6 seems to be leaking oil from the Oil Filter seal.
At first I thought it was loose, so I tightened it. Was OK for a day or so and then it leaked again.
Then I thought it was a faulty filter seal, so I replaced the Filter with a New One.
Couple of days later, it leaked again. Tried Tightening, still same.
Changed the oil and filter about a month later. After a few days, it leaks again.
The Oil Filter Mating Surface on the car side is perfect, and the seals seem to be OK.
I always put a smear of oil on the Filter seal before screwing it on.
Could there be a problem with Oil Pressure. (Maybe too much).
The car drives fine and there are no other oil leaks.
Im a bit worried that something may happen down the track that I could have prevented.
Try running a thin layer of grease around the seal before fitting it.
Im using Valvoline Oil Filters. I havn't tried using another brand yet. The Seals on the Valvoline Filters seem OK. Quite Thick and Wide Rubber.
make sure rubber gasket from an old one isnt on there, if not it may actually be your rocker cover gaskets leaking and running down, mine does it constantly
Is the oil actually coming from the filter seal? It maybe leaking from the oil pressure switch just in front and blowing back around the filter base!
^^^
I just replaced my oil pressure switch on my vs it was a mess didn`t know were it was leaking.
It even looked like my power steering pump and rubber noses were leaking.
So give it a degrease and check your power steering noses also.
I buy holden filters and alwas replace the sump plug washer aswell they will leak if u kept using them and they are cheap.
Good luck.

Those Ecotec pressure switches (and the L67 too presumably) have been known to leak - mine certainly did.
As others have said, wash it all down so you can tell for sure where is coming from.
