The security light should not flash when cranking, the immobiliser is not turning off.

it is possible but its easier if you get a VT ecu as then you can just plug in a memcal with VATS disabled with the VX ecu its flash based and has no memcal so you need the whole ecu reflashed with a tune with vats turned off.

you can still run the VX dash and stuff off a VT ecu peice of cake its plug and play with the vx loom or doctorbob will be able to disable vats on the VX ecu im sure i know hes unsoldered a few chips out of them before his website is Rob's Creative Calibrations contact him through there.you will need the BCM for the VX as well to make the dash work i think too as all the comms go through the bcm for the dash if i remember right.

ok now we are onto something, i have sent him an email, just gotta wait till i get the reply
i have gone a bit backwards with the way i have done this conversion, i really should have bought a written off car rather than a host of parts.
where i am at now is, i have a v6 auto engine loom and ecu from one car, i got a dash console bcm and loom and also ecu from another wrecker, put it together but still having the above mentioned problems with the vats. hoping disabling the vats will fix it.....
    thanks guys

the ecu and BCM are linked you need matching ecu and bcm from the same car and need the key reader from round the ignition barrel and the keyhead as well that match the correct bcm or it will never go without vats disabled

i got the ecu from the car that i got the dash and bcm from, i got the igition barrel and key but the part that the little dick thing on the key contacts the barrel i havent got, ill go pester the wreckers again, hope they didnt discard it....
    thanks very much dude

is the key reader as they call it in the workshop manual just a contact as it has only a one wire connection (the part that the protrusion of the key touches when in the ignition barrel)
