i will be getting my vx exec lowered and slapping a new set of 18/19" (perferably 19) wheels on soon and i want to know what to do first and why? i was thinkin wheels first. will the bigger wheels change the ride height much if i get lower springs first? also will i need a camber kit for 19"s on my 02 vx series II? will i need shocks? roughly how much am i lookin at for everything fitted in melbourne area?
cheers
Most people get wheels firts, then lower.
You don't need a camber kit for your VX series 2, but possibly a front and rear wheel alignment as the suspension geometry will be different with the non standard suspension and wheels.
My Opinion:
I'd get the suspension first and then the rims. Personally I find cars on nice big rims that are rising stock height fairly un-attractive.
Facts:
Depending how low he goes, we will need a camber kit. Anything beyond SL will have more camber than is recommended. Though it does seem to vary from car to car on occasion. Also, S2 VX's had a suspesnion tweek that reduced camber issues, but anything from VT through to VZ has excess camber when you start lowering them.
In regards to the shocks, once again depends on how low you are planning on going.
Stock FE2 shocks are happy working with even SL springs, beyong that shorten shocks are the go. Though you can wait till the current ones wear out before upgrading as the stock shocks will wear quicker anyway.
I got away with riding SSSL Kings with stock shocks for 6months before I upgraded to HD Racing shocks... massive difference!
Finally, to have just springs put in on all for corners, its about 400bux including parts. But what I would do, is get them to do the front springs and shocks because doing the rear springs and shocks is a very easy job, save some cash that way.
Good luck!
I'd get the wheels and then set the ride height accordingly very shortly there after.
