    Post tunning question

hey guys, just wondering, ive fitted a 2 1/2 inch exhaust and got a k&n pod in the commy, and was wondering if you need to do a tune after installing? because with the exhaust now, and ive had it for a while, its practically gutless up until 2000rpm.

so yea any ideas if i do, or anything i could do at home to increase the throttle response at takeoff?

    dont need a tune

putting a larger exhaust will give u that sorta performance, rob u low down, give it a bit more up high

you could get some diff gears 3.7+ and a lsd to make it feel better

or you could get a dr bob memcal, he works wonders for the ecotec's for a couple hungie$$

+1 on what doxer said about diff gears.

Now, when you say you have an exhaust, is that including headers? Because a catback without headers is just going to give you a pretty sound and not much performance gains.

Also, the POD filter, is it properly shielded from the engine air? Otherwise off the line your car is sucking hot air from the enginebay and this robs you of any 'up and go' the engine might have in it.

To increase throttle response, you could got a later TB, I know when i did my 69mm TB from MACE the throttle was right there and ready to go.

Finally, manual or auto? If auto, it could be sluggish on takeoff because the gearbox is... err.. "slushy". Get is tigheten up or get a shiftkit maybe.

Other than that, the ecotec isn't all that exciting under 2000rpm, is doesn't make huge torque, so don't set the bar too high mate.

    Cheers

hey sorry took so long, its an auto, no extractors at the moment, but am looking into a hi flow cat and pacemakers. the pod, well, i cut a little bit out of the existing airbox, so that the pod fits inside the original airbox, and i have felt the pod after driving, and it doesnt feel hot or anything. how much are the diff gears?

Get the headers but down't bother with hi-flow cats. The Stock cats will only stary restriction once you're in 200rwkw territory, so FI or stroker setup.

When I was looking to get a 3.73 LSD put into my old VX, best price I got was about 1200 for reco centre and new gears installed.

What I ended up doing was buying a VY GTS 3.73 LSD for 1G after alot of hunting around.

    But, because I'm bored.

COMMODORE VZ, VX, VY RECO IRS LSD W/- 3.7 DIFF GEARS. - eBay, Other Car Parts, Accessories, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 12-Sep-09 22:59:23 AEST)

COMMODORE VX- VZ RECO IRS LSD w/ 3.7 DIFF GEARS - eBay, Other Car Parts, Accessories, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 20-Sep-09 18:12:00 AEST)

There you go, two options under 1000 bux with 3.73 gears. No luck finding anything with 3.9's.

    Hope that helps.
