    Default over heating

hi fellas i did a quick search but could find a post that really matched up with my prob so sorry for starting a new one. But here's my problem the last few weeks when ive been driving at below say 70kmph my vt commodore has over heated. The wife was stuck behind a truck today and it did the same thing but she paniced and overtook the truck and the car cooled down when she sped up?? i flushed the radiator last week and replaced the water pump about a year ago. Should the fan kick in while idling at normal running temp?

put the bonnet up and let it run for about 10-15 mins to see if the fan kicks in , if it doesnt it may mean the fan is knackered or it could just be a fuse try turning the ac on and see if the fan starts , the ac fan that is

Did you bleed the cooling system after you flushed it ?

ahhh yes good point , remove the engine cover and let it run till hot then unscrew the little screw on top of the thermostat housing wait till coolant comes out the do it up again , you can have the rad cap off while doing this as you will need to top it up when the thermostat opens , (thats assuming its working properly) cap it back up and replace the 4 engine cover bolts
