Default Changing a VT/VX Front to a VZ Monaro Front

Hey everyone, I've been collecting all the pieces I need to change over my front to VZ Monaro and I know a few people from here are either doing it too or have already done it. And just wanted to check to see if I have missed anything I need.

    • Front Bumper
    • VZ Monaro Front Lights
    • Fog/Parker Lights
    • Top Grille
    • Bottom Grille
    • Fog/Parker Bezels

    Cheers.

And on a side note does anyone know how to wire up the parker lights on the VT?

hooking up the lights is a pretty straight forward procedure if you have some idea of electronics.
a few thigs to look at is if you want to use all your current stock light switchs, or have a seperate switch (you can choose and type of switch you like) and place it where you like within reason (under steering colum, somewhere around cluster) can go to the extreeme of a missile type switch with the red flick covers or wateva they are, everyone to their own lol
then depending on what way you want to go, will tell you what you need to get

    1) using your current light switches, all you have to do is wire you fog lights up to the relay of the lights of which you want then to come on with, for this you will need a double adaptor blade terminal (someone please correct me if im worng but i think this way is illegal because legally they need their own switch)

    or

    2) having the seperate switch, then you need another relay, the type of switch you like, and enough wiring. wiring you will need enough for positive to run from your switch in the car, to the relay under the hood (easy to just place it near the fuse box somewhere on the left side under the bonnet) then from the relay to the battery, and then also from the relay to your lights, and negative or earth wire from your relay, to somewhere under the bonnet that will sit onto metal so it can earth. then its just a matter of wher eyou want your switch to be.

sorry its abit messy, if your a lil confussed about it all PM me and i can explain it better.
where abouts are you? i can always come and help you out if you want a hand, its really easy to hook up the lights

Im doing the same thing mate, looks like I sold my VY SS ute today so looking around for a VX 3.8
Already got the VZ monaro front bar, top grill and bottom grille on the way.

Have you bought any of the parts you listed yet?

Best prices I can get for the headlights is around $550 a pair and $400 for foglight/parkers complete.

A guy on eBay, its all genuine parts, its actually a parts distributor in Melbourne, they do heaps of other makes and models.

I have the top grill and the badge seperate, the badge doesnt seem to sit in the grill correctly so its like there is a part missing perhaps a plate that goes inbetween the badge and the grill? There are two pins on the back of the badge with no holes in the grill for it to fit into.

Hmm, do you have the right grille? There are two Monaro grilles one for the VZ and one for the other monaro.

Got a link to the fog/parker lights on ebay?

    Its the correct part numbers,
The fog/parkers arent on ebay, but the guy who I bought the front bar off can source all parts required for the VZ monaro front conversion.
    The seller name is benvos
He is a top bloke and will help you out.

I dont know how to help you out on the grille sorry. Are you sure the badge isnt for the rear of the car? Cos I know a person on ebay sells both rear and front monaro badges.

Yeah I've bought off benvos before, he is good.

Well Benvos gave a good price for the grille and badge, half price on what I would have had to pay. But if you're having trouble with it no way I would want to buy it... =/

CrimsonThunder, How are you going with getting parts?

I have the following parts so far

    Front Bar
    Bottom Grille
Top Grille with badge (3 piece)
Foglight and parker lights complete with bezel surrounds
Foglight switch for dash (I have executive, didnt come with foglight switch)

Now Im just waiting on getting the headlights and I think Ill need to get a VY/VZ Reo bar too.

here's one for you.... (not trying to hijack thread either, sorry if i draw this off-topic)

Ok you know the 2 front body guards left & right, you know the L shape looking plastic things that are attached to the metal body of the car which lets the kit click into from the front bar to hold on, does anyone know what they are called.

Also, does anyone know if the VT ones are different from the VX ones, I have a VX SS Front and the bar isnt fitting well onto the old clips its almost like as if minor shaping is out by a about 1 cm on both sides were the bar meets the body if i take the clips out it fits fine, but nothing to attach to, before I go and hunt for VX one's I wanted to see if anyone knows.... thank you
