Hey guys,
would anyone know where the best free grommet in the engine bay firewall would be, that I could use to run my amp cable to get it to the boot.
It would be better if there was one that required the least amount of taking the dash apart to get to
Cheers,
Matt

hey mate
mine runs from the battery, alone the left side (looking from the front of the car), across the back to the right hand side side, and there is a little round grommet about 3-4 cm in diameter, its perfect as far as i know. i think you also need to take this into account b4 you run your wires, but i think you gotta make sure to run your amp AC (i think thats right), and your output form your head unit down different sides of the car, or it can result in your speakers whistling while your head unit is on.
hope this helps
yeh the same as MR VX jsut mentioned
Use the one that the engine wiring loom goes through on the passenger side. That way you can easily run it under the PCM and under the door sills to the trunk.
Hope this helps.
If you have a auto, then the clutch grommet is just below the brake booster. Big hole, can easily run 0 gauge through it, and you only need to take one piece of plastic off to get to it, literally a 5 minute job.

Yep the clutch gromet is easiest
cheers heaps guys, ill have a look for the clutch grommet because i dont want to try messing with the passenger side wiring loom grommet in case i screw up any of the cables
thanks heaps!

There's a grommet on the passenger side behind the strut tower, as mentioned earlier, with NO engine wiring running through it. Easier to access from inside than the clutch grommet, and what happens when you do a manual conversion later![]()

Hey, it depends which side the grommet i go through is for the power. Then i will run the RCA cables down the opposite side of the car, they are no worry at all.
I just need someone to show me a picture of where exactly the free grommet is from inside and outside the car.
Cheers

All good guys!!!! The damn free grommet was staring me right in the face hahaha
For future reference for anyone that is asking about this:
On the passenger side of the car there is a big loom going into a grommet, and just to the right of it is a small rubber grommet, go inside the car and it just pops out but make sure your holding it as mine fell down and i had to open the side panel to get to it (lol :P). I then just poked a hole through it and fed my amp power cable through it.
As for those RCA's, I will be running them down the drivers side of the car so they are seperate from the power cables on the passenger side of the car to avoid interferance.
thanks all that helped me

i used the clutch grommet but want to know the best way of getting the grommet back in with the v8 there is no room to push on it
I used my eyes to see that this is a very old thread.

Lol true
Any way i think mentioned before if auto just near the brake booster. Also you dont have to run the RCAs on the sides of the car you can take the center console out and run it straight through to the back this way you will save just under meter in RCA cable length. Just be care-full of the air bag module.
You can also install the amplifier under the passenger seat.
