Dynamat? Expandable foam filler in the boot lid? (not highly recommended..)

90% of the time the boot rattle is caused by the number plate

this is 100% correct, i had this problem with my vt, (as i have 3 subbs) honestly, i pulled most things apart, it seemed for my case, the back white plastics were ratteling, i just foamed them so there was no gap between them and the car shell.

    hope this helps mate.

Maybe drill a couple of holes then put a couple of the "christmas tree" plugs into them? Just a thought.

take the parcel shelf out and pad in between them or screw it down from on top or underneath. Even better, pad in between and screw it down to squash the padding. the next prob is if the boot skin welds are stuffed.

I've found expanding foam worked well under there cause you can put it in the smallest gaps and it tightens it right up. make sure you let it set completely before testing it though.
