no vt have one sensor for the ecu and it does the dash readout as well you will need to drill a hole to suit under the thermostat housing by the ecu sender or you can use the adaptors that fit in the top radiator hose but for a true reading in the alloy under the thermostat housing is best

the temp guage more for my lpg. The car has to be more than 45 degrees before i can switch from petrol to it. Ill probably buy the adaptor for the radiator hose cos its easier and im a total hack at doing things. thanks for the help mate.
oh and one more thing does the hose adapter option make it a mechanical or electrical gauge?

can run either guage in there. just have to earth the adaptor with the screw provided with a wire to the battery negative or car body to use an electric one or they dont work cause the sender needs to be earthed.it wont see hot water till the thermostat opens so trying to judge when its at 40 degrees would be hard due to the thermostat still being shut at that temp and the top radiator hose still having colder water in it pretty much 5 minutes of driving it should be well over 40 degrees

im pretty sure the ecotec has 2 water temp sensors, 1 for the ecu and the other is for the gauge on the dash. you could just remove the dash temp sender and fit your gauge sender, only thing is the gauge on your dash wont work anymore obviously.

VS EcoTec 2 senders, one for the gauge, one for the PCM and, as per delcowizzid, VT EcoTec, one for the PCM (that then passes the data to the BCM for use by the gauge).

If it's to switch the LPG, might you use the temp. sender voltage output and this:

Universal Voltage Switch - Jaycar Electronics

    to do it automatically?

while on the subject, where can i locate the wiring inside the car coming from the temp gauge sender on a vs v8? don't care if dash one doesn't work, but would be a lot easier to wire up straight to old wiring, any help would be great Cheers
