when im driving i seem to have a noise from my front left wheel, almost like a knocking noise that gets louder the faster i go, replaced the wheel bearing and still making the noise, any ideas what it could be?
your link pin bushes
Could be a warped rotor. As you move it is making the caliper move or smacking against the pads. Does the steering vibrate when braking?
It could also be something in the tyre.....
sounds more like a groaning now then a knocking, wouldnt be the rotors as i just got them machined, have been told it is the wheels, is that possible?
Groaning ? Maybe you had a bearing with a roller that has been flattened, that would knock as it rotates. it would progressivley stuff up the roller races which would stuff up other rollers.
changed the front wheel with the spare and went for a drive this morning and made no difference, so can't be the wheel then :S
Had a mysterious grinding/whiring noise coming from my front right wheel.
Turns out i bent the rotor coverand it was rubbing up against the top corner of the rotor.
I bent it when i was trying to bash the rotor off with a crow bar (with rubber on the end), it took so much effort to do, i missed a couple of times, so naturally that happened.
One of the easiest fixed i have ever done on a car, took the wheel off, bent it back, put the wheel back on - easy.
Tell tale sign is the scoring on the rotor dust cover
