my VT is giving out a clicking noise from the rear end , it sounds just like a nail or a stone in the tyre hitting the road, ive taken both back tyres and checked for this but nope nothing so simple.., the clicking doesnt get any faster the faster i go so i dont think its the tail shaft
( ive had that happen to me in my old VN totally different noise)
has anyone had this happen and found out what it is??
Could be a shocky making the noise... I have had that before
thans ,ill look into the shocks and see....im not sure though cause it even happens on smooth roads....its confusing the hell outta me .... its not causeing a problem of any kind so i dont really wanna pay a mech. to find what basically is just an annoyance
Your CV joints on the axles will make a clicking noise when worn but should vary with road speed. If the sound doesn't vary with road speed then it can't be from the tailshaft back. Does the clicking happen in reverse?
no doesnt happen in reverse..the exact sound is like when u have a stone in ur tyre and ive throughly checked for stones and nails and nothing..ive climbed in under the car and i see or feel nothing loose.
its really annoying on long trips click click click click....aghhhhh..
also when i took the wheels off i checked the brake calipers and all that just to make sure nothing was amiss there all is in good working order...this has me completely baffled
You say though it doesn't vary with road speed? What about engine RPM? Is the sound consistent no matter what?
yeah its constant...doesnt get faster just stays the same
