i have recently replaced my lifters , they are the roller type lifters and they are very expensive. i am planning on a full rebuild and was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to put a standard type cam and lifters in?
also wondering if anyone knows if the engine (5 litre efi) can be stroked?
Of course you can put the standard cam and lifters back in, but seriously why bother? If your going to rebuild the engine then you might as well put a decent cam in there. From what I have heard the 5L engine sounds beasty with a big cam slotted in.
Sure the 5L can be stroked. How do you think HSV had a 5.7L pre-LS1 engine.

Thanks for the reply acarmody
When I said standard cam ,I mean't standard as in normal type lobes not roller cam. I would love to put something in a little "lumpier" . Any suggestions on a good cam?
I don't know much about V8 parts as I have a 6. Have a look in the V8 Development and Modification section of the forum. Have a search for cams.
