Hey Hey,
I am currently upgrading bits and pieces on my 5ltr VT SS Commodore trying to squeeze a few more rwkw out of it. Next on my hit list is replacing the factory spec headers that come with the car. There are a couple of good deals getting around on eBay at the moment, on Pacemaker, HM and even X-Force headers I was hoping someone could answer the following queries I have.
1) Will the X-Force headers fit the 5ltr Engine, i.e. are the bolt patterns the same as the later model LS1 Engines, which most VT headers seem to be advertised for?
2) Which is better for street performance, tri Y's or a 4 to 1 pipe design?
3) What have you tried and tested, what sort of gains would I be looking at?
Personally I am leaning towards an X-Force system (if the headers fit), as they might be more expensive, but they are available with hi-flow "Cats" to suit. I am also thinking it will go well with my proposed Cat back system (leaning towards X-Force, twin 2.5").
Any help will be appreciated.

4 to 1 extractors are the best for any thing
headers are usally cast extacors are what your talking about
the important thing to look at when buying extractors is too look at primary pipe size
a good size should match your port C2 thats square centimeters than the pipe should join to its mates at the right sized exit
so if 4 primary pipes make 100 C2 thats 25 C2 each than the exit pipe should have 100 C2 or higher like 110 or 120
