tried that and felt $80.00 was a bit steep for such a small job
come on mate to take a car to a workshop there is a min fee like $50-$80
$80 is very reasonable.

modding/repairing a car isn't cheap mate..
as said above, you can't have both cheap and best, just doesn't happen sadly.
cheap and fast aint reliable
cheap and relible aint fast

ok maybe i should make myself a little clearer,
I'm trying to spend as little money as possible and was hoping that I could get some advice on where people go to get their exhausts done or possibly some one that has some exhaust pipe lying around as I would prefer to do as much myself (not only for the satisfaction but also to save money) now I would've thought (and maybe I am being naive) that a short piece of pipe with two small bends in it and a stretch at the front (to slip over the existing pipe) 'bot 15 minutes worth of work should've been less than $80.00. I wasnt looking tol start a s@#t fight just putting it out there
I should say further that im looking to replace the resonator with a straight through pipe
Break it down.
There's the cost of the pipe.
The time taken to cut and bend it.
The time taken to flare the end to the right size.
The time and resources taken to weld it in place.
Then there's the labour on top of that.
Sounds good to me.
My mate got about 2ft of off-cut spare bends for $50, so your price doesn't sound bad.
Don't forget the time to put it on a car hoist and back off again.
I got a resi put on my car, was just straight-through pipe before, cost me $60.

Now with my very own Tech2....YAY.
It shouldnt take more than ten minutes to change a resi.. I was gonna get a redback resi put on for 60 bucks with no labour or anything. so maybe $80 is pretty average.
thats what i thought maxseverity, in my mind it should be no more than $50. I worked in an exhaust shop some 15+ years ago and was just flabergasted at the way price seems to have gone way up.
hooray good news mr muffler in frankston will make the pipe up for me (I fit it myself) and will only charge $30.00. Cut the resonator off they said, bring it in and we will make the new pipe up for you (with the proper bends in it) only think is you have to fit it yourself(including welding the original mounts back on) but hooray that seems like a much better deal than $80.00 and satisfies the DIY need.
Well change in direction today, popped into a stainless welding joint and the guy sold me 1 metre of 3" stainless tube for $30. Going to use that instead. Sweeeet. Have cut a piece of the end, made some pie cuts so that it can be joined onto the longer pipe and will now have 3" stainless ending in 2 3" outlets. If I can find someone on here with a welder that would be willing to weld two pie cuts and join the two pipes then thats a Huge win for the DIYer, if not then the stainless guy said he would weld em up for about $30 so really still in front. Have measured and cut everything already (including a finger) and it looks great(the pipe that is not the finger) and I get the satisfaction out of doing it mostly myself.
