    Default thermo fans help

Ive never seen my drivers side thermo fan kick in... from cold too 104c the passenger side thermo fan kicks in too cool the car down, once it drops below it 95 it turns off, so thats all good, once i turn my AC on the passenger side thermo kicks in once again, so the answer im looking for is when is the drivers side thermo meant too kick in?

My manual says "if only one fan works on both speeds, it is probable that the fault is in the fan motor itself or the power supply to that motor."
Check the connector plug for the fan that is not working.

From here, How to fit thermo fan bypass switch post #21, the switch on criteria for VT fans are:

    "V6 Low speed:

    On, >: 104C
    Off, <: 99C
On with ignition off if > 117C
    On with A/C pressure > 1550 kPa
    Off with A/C pressure < 1170 kPa and speed > 50 km/h

    V6 high speed:

    On, >: 112C
    Off, <: 108C
    On with A/C pressure > 2600 kPa
    Off with A/C pressure < 2300 kPa"

VT and VS ecotec should be the same or very similar. Seems like normal operation to me.

sorry i still dont understand, so whats the purpose of the drivers side thermo fan? when temp gets to 112c it will kick in? so the passenger side thermo takes care of AC and when temp gets up too 104c... so Im guessing the drivers side thermo comes on when the car reaches 112c? thats its only purpose?

I take it you didn't read reply number 3. Both fans should be on together. They have low speed and high speed.

There was an update with VT SII (S/C VX-), carried over to VX, that means there is a low speed and a high speed fan in place of two, two speed fans.

If you want to check the operation of the second fan, a 50 ohm resistor placed across the terminals of the coolant sensor wiring harness (in place of the sensor) will indicate to the PCM a temp. of about 125C. Both fans should operate with the ignition on. The low speed fan should stay on for ~four minutes after the ignition is switched off.
