I'm not sure, today I took off my front bumper and discovered that on the right hand side there was a connector it has nothing attached to it now, but I've heard that sometimes at factory they put the wiring in if this is the case, is it as easy as buying a differnt bumper with lights and installing them, I guess then attaching a switch to where ever the wires come out to behind the dash?
i heard those wiring connectors are for extra horns which the calais came out with, but if u really want to know for sure pop the fuse cover open and where the relay goes in the connectors there should be in the plastic slots or else if there are none there isnt wiring for them and u have to put!
the wirering there is for fog lights but the lights themselves are an optional extra. i think last time i check holden wanted $400 to install both lights...i was like haha maybe not lol
Any idea if the wiring to the switch will be existent? (Eg, wiring will be terminated behind the dash, a matter of buying a fog light switch of ebay and wiring it up) Maybe some fuse work under the hood to patch it up but other than that.. simple stuff? Anyone can share some info on this?
hey guys i installed genuine factory fog lights in my vt i wil tell you how its done.
parts needed:
- Factory fog lights Left/Right
- Foglight Brezel (for the bumper)
- Foglight Switch
- Dash Surround With foglight hole (most people make their own hole)
- Fog light Relay
First you need to cut holes in the bumper for the fog lights which isnt that easy preferably buy a bumper with holes pre made from factory.
Then there are 2 connnections sitting behin the bumper. 1 on the left and 1 on the right. the plug into the foglights.
Then you need to take off the surround and put the switch in it. then you need to connect it to the plug. there is a plug that should be tapped to your headlight switch plug. thats for the fog lights.
After everythings connected you need to connect the relay in the engine bay. and your all done![]()
I actually just went out and had a look... seems like fatboy is right, there are actually 2 connectors (one on each side) and the relay looks like its plug and play just buy a relay and wire the switch. were can i buy one of these relays from?
There's also a left plug for the left fog light but I didn't get a photo as I took these before I got fatboy's post hence didn't know there was a left one (but its hidden underneath near the same area as the right hand side one but not attached to the body).
does anyone know if the wiring is in an executive series 1?
My 98 series 1 exec has the wiring and connections behind the bumper but I don't believe it has the rest. Looking at the fuse box, it doesn't appear as though the spot for the relay has any metal connections in it. I haven't even bothered looking behind the dash as I don't believe it will be there.
In the dash (as I had a VT Exec and looked at it myself) you need the foglight switch AND the wiring harness that connects directly to the back of it. Will need to be soldered in from memory, so no the switch wiring isn't terminated. The rest of the wiring is good to go... oh and you'll need the foglight brackets too!
Cutting the hole in the dash cover isn't as easy as it sounds, the switch is a peculiar shape, which you will find out when you buy one.![]()
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere
My Series 1 Berlina has no wiring behind the dash, or loom behind the bumper![]()

Where do these wires go to from the switch? Straight to the relay or to another couple of things?
This factory loom was in all series 2's and some series 1's as due to fleet sales (execs) they usually ran out of the standard looms and had to put in the ones with this fog light connector. When they bought in the series 2, they just made them all like this (with the connector for fog lights).
As for installing fog lights, if you have the loom, you will need the fog light switch and relay, in addition to fog lights.
Then it is just a matter of plug and play.
You will need to cut a hole to fit the bezzel which fits the fog light switch (same as the hazzard light switch - most likely works the same too, just has different symbol)
