Default Orange & Yellow VT-VX Colours (not red)

I remember, about when the VT just came out, there were three new colours I liked.

    - Metallic Dark-Orange/Burnt-Orange (NO redness)

    - Metallic Gold-Orange (found to be Tiger Mica)

    - Metallic Gold-Yellow (NO paleness)

Can anyone (e.g. someone with a VT or VX with one of these colour types) tell me the official names for these colours?

All I know at present is the Gold-Orange (Tiger Mica).

I also remember, something like that the Gold-Orange (Tiger Mica) was found on the SS models etc whereas the Dark-Metallic-Orange was found on Executive models etc.

Is the Gold-yellow colour the one called Hyper or something similar? It was the "hero" colour for the VX when it was released.

There was also a colour released during the VT called Cinnamon (I think) - it came out about the same time as Tiger, which would make it a Series 2 VT colour. It was a sort of metallic light coffee colour.

Well I'm satisfied that the Gold-Yellow is Hyper-Mica.

However I'm not sure about the Burnt-Orange colour I had in mind, being Cinnabar-Mica.

I found some pictures of a Cinnabar-Mica coloured VT or VX on Carsguide, and it looked metallic REDdish-orange.

Does anyone have pictures on the justcommodores site or something that I can use as reference?

If you saw the colour samples that came with my brochure you would be satisfied that Cinnabar Mica is the colour you are looking for. It couldn't be more burnt orange if it tried.

As above mate. Cinnabar would look more burnt orange in some lights, but in reality its more of a red with orange addition.
The ONLY exception is the 10th Anniversary VT Senator Signature, which was painted in 'Jaffa', more orange than Cinnabar. But it was the only exception I'm aware of.

    Default Smokey orange

Well I just found some pictures of a Cinnabar VX Exec in different lights - it looks red with an orange tinge - the orange was visible in sun light.

So it's not the colour I had in mind.

I guess maybe the colour I had in mind was in fact Tiger Mica.

Although I do remember, when these cars were new, that I noticed some had a distinctive gold shine (Tiger Mica) to the orange, whereas others had a distinctive darkness to the metallic orange colour, without the goldness (SMOKEY ORANGE would be a better description).

There wasn't perhaps a Series II Tiger Mica introduced with the VX, or something, was there, explaining the smoked orange colour I had in mind?

So what colour is the Acclaim?

If that is Cinnibar, then what is the reddish-orange metallic colour, when you CLICK on the "SERIES 2" ACCLAIM link?

From pics I've seen of Cinnibar in car-dealer ads stating the paint code, the "SERIES 2" ACCLAIM link seems to be Cinnibar to me.

Meaning I still wouldn't know what the "Series 1 Acclaim picture" orange colour is.

They are both cinnibar, its just the angle of the pic/sunlight that makes them look different.

I'm 100% convinced the 3 colours your after are Tiga, Hyper, and cinibar.

Bugger my old memory. I called it Cinnamon, but knew that wasn't right. Cinnibar. Thanks guys.

And in relation to Hackett Gold. Was that the colour that a bunch of VT's were painted and presented to Gold medallists at the 2000 Olympics?

As far as I knew only the SV99s were hackatt gold.

The olympic (escort) cars are a unique colour, if thats what your thinking?

I don't know about "escort" cars, but seem to recall that Australian gold medallists were presented with Commodores after the completion of the Olympics. With a name like "Hackett Gold", I assumed that might have been the name of the colour those cars were painted. I seem to recall that they were all a gold colour but that's about all I know. I can recall the "Official Olympic Commodores" which were marked to that effect and were sold to the public at the end of the Games. You see them around from time to time, but I think they were all white.

Actual olympic editions are all colours. I've seen a black one, and plenty of blue ones.

Not sure about the medallists thing, but i doubt all of the SV99s would have been given to them (although Grant did own number one for a few years, shame it was auto)

I checked the SV99 colour and it appears like Tiger Mica, except more Gold.

I have one more comparison - a better set of photos than the previous.

This spoiler shop web-site has a picture of a "smoked orange" sedan in the middle,

and a tiger-mica ute at the bottom.

The Spoiler Network - Spoilers, Body Kits, Performance Parts

    What colour is the sedan?

Something that confuses me, is that the orange sedan is a series-1, from the orange tail lights, right? But Cinninbar is a series-2 colour. Meaning this one, must be a different colour? However when compared to the tiger-mica ute at the bottom of the page, it's clearly got a different appearance.

It looks to be just Red Hot with a really shit camera.

Keep in mind the flat colours that were available, plenty of taxi's in the orange which is close to that (and then of course theres flame red from the monaro's which is similar)

Well all I remember 100% is that at about the time the Tiger Mica came out in the VTs as a gold-tinged orange on S/SS models, there were also VT Execs driving around with the black under-door and under-bumper areas (sort of like on the the VN Berlinas), and the colour of these VT Execs was dark smokey metallic-orange.

Definitely metallic, definitely on brand new Execs, and definitely DARK-ORANGE with NO REDNESS.

Perhaps it's just that they were all actually Tiger Mica.

I remember though that Tiger had a goldish shine to it, whereas the dark orange didn't, and had a smokeyness to it.

Maybe they were just dirty Tiger Mica Execs, although they were brand new or current model cars.

There is another colour, but its waaaaay closer to maroon than orange.

I think you'd just forgotten the exact colour.

It's tiger Mica. Check out VT2 acclaim tiga micas. A dark / cloudy picture makes them look almost flat in color.
