11pm tonight taking wife to work about 7 klms away just about there and oil light came on
no chimes/warning sound, i was in only shorts and socks mobile at home so drove home quietly and cautiously, temp stayed normal, turned radio off wound windows down to monitor any engine noise, got home fine no bad noises from engine plenty of oil in engine
(full level ) Its been about 5 weeks since last oil and filter change about a week after oil/filter change the oil light came on on the way to drop kids at school then was fine again until now, running 15w/40 castrol GTX3 oil, when home tonight took plug off oil pressure switch a couple of times to ensure it was securely on, restarted motor, oil light went out fine as per normal. possibly oil pressure switch fault motor has done 205,000 klms.
Its a few days till payday so have to wait till then to get another switch, anyone know how much they are.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou in advance Chris
I'm going to assume you have an LS1 which has a real problem with the oil pressure sensor, mine is stuffed again after replacing it a few months ago. In my case the engine warning light comes on and not the oil light. The sensors a some ridiculous price, around $250-$300. I bought a new one cheaper on ebay, which is probably why I need to replace it again.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
They are around the $80 mark if I remember rightly.

Hi Guys I am a bit confused i rang cheapa auto spares they quoted $29.00 then I rang Holden and they quoted $20.20, are we talking about two different parts I am referring to the oil pressure sender unit that is located at the base of the oil filter mounting the sender unit faces forward.
which part are you guys referring too
My engine is VX 2002 s2, v6 3.8
Kind regards Chris
Now that I know it's a V6 disregard my posts. The prices you got would be about right. It's the V8 oil sensor that is expensive.
