    Default VX Rear Bar

Can someone tell how to get the rear bar off a VX I got as far as all the screws but got stuck on the two sides it looks like it is pop rivited on so I did not want to drill it out but as I was pulling it off it was bending the bracket.
    Can someone help please.

My vt had screws where the mud flaps are and bolts inside the boot just under the lights. after that it was just a matter of unclipping the bar along the sides and it was off, not sure if vx is the same.

    Hey rooey2,

Don't drill out those pop rivits. If you pull the carpet back on the back where your tail lights are(In the boot) you will see 2 10mm nuts, undo these on both sides. Then with a little bit of force, drag it out

    Cheers

I have a similar problem though
I have undone the sides near the rear wheels, the 10mm nuts but the problem I have is those 4 plastic phillip head screws along the rear..I think Ive stripped about 2 of them, they wont come out. Is there a trick to removing them?

    Hey Pepstar87,

Yeah, try and get a flat head screw driver underneath them. Then get some long nose Pliers, grab around the top of the grommet and give a bit of a pull. They are bloody stupid idea to use them as you can only ever get one good use out of them.

    Cheers

Thanks mate, that did it..now I have another problem.

I think I see what rooey2 means about the pop rivets.

There is two on each side pop riveted into a bracket that looks like its holding the rear bar on..

    What to do here?

    Anything else I have missed?

    Ok here they are

Remove the cover, there will be 4 screws along the bottom of it and 2 plastic screw grommets along the sides.

remove the floor for where your spare wheel is and you will see some more plastic grommets along the bottom on the inside, remove these by getting a flat head and using your long nose Pliers.

Pull the carpet back on both sides and you will see the wiring going to your tail lights and also 2 10mm nuts. Undo the 2 10mm nuts.

Do the same for other side

    Cheers

    I got it mate..

No I need to drill out the rivets on the electricals that are pop riveted onto the rear bar..stupid cordless drill is outta battery ofcourse.

Then find out how to remove the towbar.

Thanks for posting that up, I got it before I checked your post.

Yeah the bumper is attached to a bracket that those 2 10mm nuts are screwed onto. No need to drill out the Pop rivets

Im talking about another area, the cord for the towbar is actually pop riveted into the bottom of the rear bar, the cord is preventing me from removing the rear bar, its the only thing stopping it.

Ah ok, I understand now. Its beyond me why they would pop rivet it on.
