    Default A/C not working

the air conditioner in my caprice wont work. I had the climate control on auto with the a/c on and set at 17 degrees. the air conditioner failed to cool the air after it was on for over half an hour.

I have recently had the abs module changed, could this be the source of the problem? It was replaced with a new module not a re programed one.

Or could it just need to be re gassed? I hardly use the a/c and it was working fine last time I used it, so I don't think this would be the problem.

Could just be low on gas due to a small leak. Does the compressor clutch engage when you turn the A/C on?
I don't think the ABS module could have any affect on the A/C.

If you look at the front of the compressor wih the the A/C off you will notice the pulley is turning but the clutch ( the part in front of the pulley ) is not. When you turn the A/C on the clutch should spin along with the pulley.

Just had a check then, its spining with the pully.

so does that mean it needs to be re gassed?

    Cheers

I can't say for sure but that's the first thing I would try. But I would replace the seal where the pipes join the compressor becuase that's the most common place for a leak.
Take it to a A/C specialist to get their opinion and maybe a re-gas.

The most likely cause would be lack of refrigerant due to a leak, it could also be a faulty high or low pressure switch among other things. Take it to an A/C specialist and get a second opinion.
