Default Tacho (No Traction) into car with Traction?/

    Hey guys,

Im looking at putting a VX Senator Dash/Tacho/Cluster into my VX SS. Now the Senator cluster doesnt come with a traction, but the car has traction. Will this work? (I know the light wont come on, but will traction control itself be affect?)

BTW this is the one im looking at...
VT-VX SENATOR DASH (GRAY) (MANUAL) NO TRACK

    Cheers, Errol.

I can't see why it shouldn't. The light is only there to tell you if you have the Traction on or not. Gees they look so much like the Berlina ones.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!

Thanks for the reply guys. I gotta ask though, did the Senators not come standard with traction control?? Seems rather strange to be honest.

I could try it, just dont want to damage the car at all...

I have that same cluster in my car and it has traction control.
The only problem with it is when you turn traction off there is no indication that it is off.

For some reason these specific clusters do not have the programming to run the traction control light (Trac off) even though there is the hole there for the globe.

The Low Trac light will still work as this is a wire that comes directly from the ABS module.

I am not totally sure but believe that Traction Control not not optional on the VT HSV's but was with the VX and later

Edit: This is actually a VT cluster but will fit any VT/VX.

Thanks Keza87 for that. So your using that exact cluster?

I wonder if theres way around it (EG install a separate LED somewhere (maybe near the traction button). I guess you'd know when you've pushed it... but would kinda be nice to have there.

BTW what do you think of that cluster?

    Cheers

EDIT - And just to be sure... theres no "power" option with a manual? Thats only there for autos..

Wonder if you could rewire the "power" button to light up when traction is off

Yes I have the exact same cluster. I have a pic of it in my ride thread.

I really like the cluster but the only problem is that you cannot find any backgrounds for them.

I have already tried wiring up a light for when the traction control is switched off but there is no physical wire to the light, only for the 'Low Trac' light. It seems like the ABS module talks directly with the ECU and cluster to say that it is switched off, only the cluster cannot recognise the signal and out-put it.

This particular cluster would have to be the only one not to support the traction control lights as every other one does.

I don't know about re-wiring it but it would more likely be re-program it.

    Cool thanks keza87

Well in that case ill go ahead and order one. Might speak to Dr Bob and see if theres anyway to reprogram them??

Really strange though... Traction is an option on some cheap cars but not the senator.

    Cheers mate, Errol.
