Hi,
Just had a look at my front tyres and it looks like the insides are wearing a bit hard.
Rears seem to be fine .
Before I send it out for an alignment I would like to know if there are any components that definitely would need replacing.
Car is a VT Wagon V6 with approx 235,000 kays. not lowered.
Cheers!
Na mate nothing necarcerily "needs" replacing i would say just take it in as is and no doubt the blokes doin the work will know if anything is worn out and in need of replacing. If there was anything worn out it would most likely be tie rod ends, rack ends, power steering rack boots or sway bar link rubbers as these are the most common issues.
A Pedders $14 steering and suspension test will tell you exactly what needs replacing in your whole suspension system.
Depending on where you take it or how busy they are, some places may just do the front wheel alignment, charge you for it and give you your keys back, not even taking much of a look at it.
Agreed!!!!!!!!!

Haha, yep.
I got quoted over $3000 for parts and labour. Nearly finishes doing all the work myself and it's probably not even going to cost me close to $1000.
There was a leak in my rack which i knew about, so they said do the rack and pump and h/p hose as they were also leaking, which they weren't. H/p hose was dry as and i couldn't see any leak form the pump from clkose inspection.
Probably could have just used that product that i heard about after i did the rack, the one that is meant to swell the seals, but oh well, too late!
I understand that radius rods can be a problem causing inner tyre wear on the front.
What I gather the VT series 1 and 2 have a slightly different setup. something about an additional washer on right side. (according to an article on www.whiteline.com.au
My question is: are the aftermarket kits for the radius rods suitable for both?
BTW. no Pedders around here
Cheers!
