front wheel bearings VT

Does anyone know what size alan key is needed for the 3 bolts that hold the front wheel bearing assembly on a VT?
I tried 10mm (too small), and 12mm (too big). I tried 7/16 imperial and that was too big.

I am trying to do the job with an alan key which is a little too small, and found the bolts are really stuck. Does anyone have a good method for getting these things loose?

You's must have series 1, as on my series 2 it is 10mm i'm pretty sure (otherwise 8mm, but i think that is for the CV joints in the rear). It fits perfect, no problems.
I use a 1 foot extension bar to go over the allan key, it will get them loose. Be very, very careful if you are using a cheap set and/or removing them for the first time as a cheap allan key will twist and evetually shear at the bend.
