Default VU wheel alignment. Can it be perfect?

Hi all..I had a wheel alignment after getting some new munro gt sport shocks and rear springs . ( had the rear raised a little as recommended by my suspension guy). The car is a VU SS ute with 20 inch wheels brand new tyres. Car is lowered but not silly.
Thing is..i had the alignment but the car creeps to the left..nothing too bad but my wifes vx (standard) drives perfectly striaght (checked them on the same bit of road)..where my ute creeps to the left...The allighnment guy said it was a good as they could get it and crapped on about the big wheels..being lowered.ect..
I have never had this on any other of my cars and they have all been similar in set up...
So...can anyone else with a VX or VU ute tell me if they have had a similar thing..or...any other thougths on this issue.

    Thanks

    Scott

have u still got the print out of the wheel alighnment? that will tell u the story of wats goin on.

normally u would have a slight steer 2 the left but nothing 2 major due 2 the road surface and how its made 2 dispurse water effectivly. best way 2 actually test this is driving in the middle of the road. dangerous of corse (not recommended amongst traffic) but the road wont b on a slight tilt then.

They showed me the screen but didnt give me a print out of the info..the tyres are'nt the directional type.

I went to my local "Bob Jane" outlet for a second opinion..but i will have to find somewhere that are "specialists" as the guy at BJ was trying to tell me that 235/40/18's are the correct trye size for a VE ...I had a Ve prior to my ute..so...I know the VE takes a 245/45/18...so...if he dont know that...I dont think he would know much else!....same old story...tring to find people that "Know" what they are talking about...not just "think" they know!...

anyone recomend a front end specialist in the north west Melb area???

I bet your wifes VX doesn't have 20's on it right? not even 19's?

2 reasons your car could be creeping to the road IMO.

    1. Road camber, the roads are cambered to the outside so rain runs off them rather than pooling. I noticed that the lower the profile of your tyre, the susceptible to bump steer and drifting to the ouside from road camber.

    2. Cars in australia are generally aligned to drift to the left slightly, so that if you fall asleep at the wheel, you're more likely to drift off the road rather than into the path of oncoming traffic.

So if the suspension place says it's all properly aligned, and all your tyres are rotating in the right direction, then I would not worry about it.

PS, pretty rare to have low profile 20's that are non-directional... what tyres are they??

    Default Got it!

Well.... I must apologize and also say a big thanks to the guys that asked about directional tyres..I went to double check ( I assumed they would be ok as the car had brand new front tyres fitted just before I bought it)..and sure enough they were directional and were not going the correct way!..

Went back and got the nice guys from North Melb tyre power (they are really good) to swap them over..and..bingo..no more creep to the left!..

Prior to swapping them to the corect way..a ran it past a couple of mechanical type guys and they wernt sure if it would solve the problem..but..now I know...they are directional for a reason and is does make a difference!..

I am now very happy.Car drives nice and straight.. Must have been a real bright spark that fitted the tyres!

Thanks very much for giving me the info..sometimes its the simple stuff we overlook that ends up being the problem.

    Cheers.
