CAT modification!

my mate told me about a lil trick to do to your cat if you have one. he said that i should hollow it out, then weld a straight piece through the guts of it, then wled it back into place, therefor making it straight thru, but still looking like an everyday cat from the outside. he said it increases power (obviously not a massive amount) but enought to notice, and also gives more grunt to the note, currently i have pace maker extractors with 2.5" thru to hot dog. worth doing this ??? and also along with this, might take the hot dog off aswell

Illegal, gains are basically zero and the fine you will get if you are busted with this sort of dodgey setup will have paided for a decent high flow cat several times over.

You're mate is full of it about power gains, because the stock ecotec cats flow more than enough unless his were well stuffed and in need of replacing.

If you got your ecotec putting out 200rwkw or so NA, then they could be a restriction... but yeah, your mates 'trick'... stupid on so many levels it's it not even funny.

haha yeh im not 100% keen on the idea, watned to see wat you guys think of it, i would do it if it gives me better note, not to worried about gain, just want a better note out of the good old ecotec lol
any ideas on wat i could do to get a good note. might take the hotdog off soon, im getting this set up soon

wudnt waste ur money on all that dude just get pacemakers to a 2.5 redback system they sound good and u wont get it sounding much better anyway

Sell the Ecotec and buy a V8. You'll NEVER get the performance, sound or $/KW from a V6

I don't understand all these people with a v6 wanting to modify it so it sounds like a v8 and make it go quicker.

1. If you want a v8 sounds, get a v8.

2. If you want a quicker car, get a v8.

Otherwise you will outlay a stack of cash on a car that people will still tell you sounds nothing like an 8 and you will still get owned at the strip by a VP SS with a tune and exhaust.

Trust me, been there done that.

yeh i got pace makers and 2.5 with hotdog...it soudns nice, im on my P's for next 3 years so no V8 or forced induction for me , just looking at internal work for better performance and more low down torque, money isnt really a big issue currently 5spd.....depending how things go, maybe...big maybe, drop a T56 with diff gears, jsut for shits and giggles, would b fun too i think

yeh i get that alot about y i wanna do this to a V6, and i totally understand where your coming from, if i could dive a V8 i would buy one in a heart beat, but i cant....im on P's so i gotta deal with wat i got, yes i will eventually get an 8, but for now i gotta stick with wat i got, so im gonna have fun with it while i can.....then go nuts on rigging up a nice V8

If you want a good note save the money on those mods and buy an 8 as no matter what you do it will always sound like a vacuum cleaner.
