Hey guys,
Have a VT commodore, anyway the past few months, been a little wierd to start like it kicks over, stops, then kicks over. Kinda like a dead battery, thinking its the alternator.
ANYWAY
Driving down the highway today everything all sweet, then bbom boom boom bbom boom.. its not a loud banging noise, sounds like an old boat i think...
the car still runs, its just got no power... sounds like the noise is coming more out of the exhaust, im not sure.
ive checked the spark plug covers and theyre on...
what else could i check?
fuel filter? maybe its clogged
I changed all the spark plugs to NGK ones (were GM before)
and the car started fine, and seemed to fun fine. Took it for a spin all looked good, then it started doing it again. But only lightly, and only lasts for about 1-3 seconds. At random times.
I'm going to run it around today, and see if length of time changes it aswell.
Would it be advisable to get some new leads? and a new fuel filter?
check the ignition module, get under and rattle the exhaust (had the same experience when my mufflers went) could also be a burnt exhaust valve
Well, I disconnected the battery, took it for a drive and everything come good. I think because I drove about 30k's with it stuffed up the computer reprogrammed itself to run on 4 cylinders or whatever. So it was still running rough. Hasn't missed a bit now so I'm presuming it was something to do with the spark/leads.
One thing I notice is when im sitting still, I get this tingly rattle coming from the car, but if i put it in park it sorta goes away. Any ideas ?
The original problem with the hesitation on start is the same as one I have. Best guess is that its the relay that sits on top of the starter, and not battery or alternator.
One ofthese days i'll get around to replacing it.
