hay i just recently purchased a 99 series 2 vt commodore and today i noticed after all the rain we are having that there is water getting into the front passengers side footwell, i dont think it is coming from the fire wall anywere as its only wet on the flore right near the front speaker and bak towards the seat closest to the door, iv read that it could be the door seal but mine all look brand new ? anyone else have this problem or no how to fix it or wat it could be?? any help would be much appreciated.
cheers scott
got same prob but drivers side instead. checked all firewall holes, aircon drain tubes. only when car sits in the rain. when the car is driven in the rain and garaged no wet floor. car sits out overnight in rain, soaked drivers floor. must be someone who knows, we can't be the only ones.
same here , no idea , ..mines drivers side
hmm yer seems to be a common problem as alot of others have it to, ud think someone would have fixed it befor ?? anyone no ??
check the seals around your front windscreen, also next time it rains take the kick panel off and have a look and see if its wet behind there
Havn't had this problem myself but i heard of a person who had water leak coming in from mirror. Don't know if this is any help.....
im having same problem on my vu, thinking it might be coming in through the aerial
hi i own a 97 vt sedan
when ever it rains there is a pool of water in the back passengers footwells (both sides) i was wonderin if someone else had these problems it hasnt had any accidents and the seals are fine it doesnt matter what angle the vechical is on it still leaks
cheers
Mine leaks through the door seal at the bottom after heavy rain.
i got the same problem too with my 98 VT, its on the drivers side.. sounds like water is running into the car but its not... weird
same problem and depending on how much rain it can be all doors. im fairly sure the water runs down the seal and in at the bottom of the door. but i couldnt be stuffed to fix it!
Same problem here on my VT and it stinks when the water is dried out, i m gonna fix this and i'll let you all know wat it was
yeah me too, water on the floor passenger side (front) footwell... definetly not through the door...I thought it might be the air vents..
('cause my air con vent to the windscreen is not working..means, somehing is blocking the air flow...)
so i got to thinking, what if the air vent under footwell is left/stuck in the open position, and the rain is coming in through the outer vent near the wipers, than it would come straight down to the foot area..
wouldn't it??????
ok...boys and girls ...there could be another reason for this....besides the door seal....
perhaps you have all been driving along with the windows down....and this does not apply to people with a external window sheild...
but when it rains what do you notice in these dam holdens....with pass or driver windows down and it rains...
dead right................2 friggin points on the window where water pours in and dribbles onto the inside door card...
and you will notice that it comes from 2 constant places......
1 right over the spot where the electric mirror controller is.... and the other a equal distance from the door locking end...
its my belief that........the poor drainage in that dam filled in channel...and that on either side of the channel the roof has 2 different levels...
but i think... the channel fills and pours down sides of the car right to the top of window felt linings.....
and i think if there is a gap between window glass and felt linings....a dam good place for it to run....
i also think the mirror collect water in the bottoms ....and can pour down the inside into the doorway panel
i also think the main windscreen... right in the middle develops a rust spot...whos got that already ?
and pours in there too.....right at the top of the roof...
i going to blast mine out and rust convert and repair that one asap...
i notice where the wipers are in that plastic assemble i seen some leak right out on the floor ..but some that dont leak inside...
so you need to blow and clean the leave matter out of inside...
and i noticed that frogs love holdens
specailly in boot rubbers and door rubbers...check anywhere for slime and frogs...mildew..etc...
that my thoughts on it....![]()
Wouldnt the rear quarter windows at the back cause a problem aswell as i noticed on mine the seal has come away from the glass and outer strip, maybe a bit of sika will do the trick
yep I had the same problem in my VT, it was coming through the windscreen. so had it resealed problem fixed.
know my wifes VX is leaking water into back driver side foot well.! sat in the car while it was raining and watched the water come over the driverside bottom door jam past the rubber and into the car,
than runs into the back foot well! how to fix it????, I was told to replace the drivers door sealing rubber as the one there has crushed and needs replacing. hens leaking water. haven't done it yet short of money at the moment. in the mean time I took out the lower floor pan bung rubber so the water can run out.
Hi everybody:
getting back about the rubbers letting water in.
I found that if you get a piece of rope about 10ml thick ( just use the blue & gold rope x telecoms)and long enough to fit from front to back on the bottom rubber, just tuck it under the lower outer door sill rubber front to back so it pushes the rubber out more so it seals against the door when closed.
cheaper than buying new rubbers. once in place you can't see it only you know it's there.
it works for me and so far no water leaks on the back floor.
Cheers.
Hi everyone,my mates vt was doing the same thing.
the passenger side floors would literally fill up with water after heavy rain.
you would drive off and slow down and you could hear the water sloshing around.
anyway i pulled half the dash out, pulled this and that off.
ran the hose for ages down the windscreen, into the the doors and so on and no water came in.
the problem was the sills fill up with water after heavy rain for some reason.
solution to the problem-drill 5 or 6 holes along the underside of each sill.
you will see water run out of them right away.
meant to be a common problem for vt's etc.
since doing this about 2 months ago he has not had a problem with water on the floors/in the sills.
hope this helps guys
