Hi guys. I have a standard Eurovox stereo (cd/radio) in the Vx S. Did some repairs to the car myself in the weekend - blown head gasket, so disconnected the power.
I am in Perth what do the Holden blokes charge for giving you your code. And is there anyone else that can access the codes, short of that looking at changing the stereo out of principle than to part dollars to Holden (depending on what they charge for a sub standard stereo code.) My steering wheel controls for the radio haven't worked on the stereo - been like that since I bought it. So I won't miss that if I change to a different stereo. Looking at a entry level stereo around the $120.00 mark and the compartment for $20.00 to make up for the empty space. Not interested in spending money on getting the steering wheel controls going when I can reach the stereo with my left hand. Any comments much appreciated.
I've got the stereo pin off Holden for free before, it really does depend on the person behind the desk.

I was told by a fellow work collegue Holden wanted $80.00 for his pin number. He lives North of the city (Perth) around Mangaroo, so I assume he went to the Holden dealership in Wanneroo. I will give it a go in the weekend maybe Osbourne Park, will let you know how I get on. Thanks guys.

when my batery died and put a new one in i just went to my local holden dealer and asked for it and they gave me the pin now worries
good luck where ever u go it should be free
Ok guys phoned Phoenix holden in Wanneroo this morning, they wanted $70.00 for suppling me with my stereo security code. Phoned the Holden dealership in Osbourne Park, they stated it would be free, unless the stereo had been swaped from one vehicle to another, then costs would occur. That I thought was pretty fair. So off to Osbourne Park with registration papers and drivers licence, Unlocked my stereo (6 digit pin number) free of charge. Big thumbs up to the guys there - can't fault them.
Also thanks to the forum readers for there response. Hope this thread helps any other people based here in Perth.
Ok I had to get my pin from Holden. No problems at all. Went in and said had to change battery over the weekend, before I could get the words I need my pin the guy asked if I need my security pin for my radio.
Ok guys heads up, if someone asks for payment to get your pin, walk away DO NOT pay anything for this.
Takes few minutes to get the security code, all the service advisor does is type ya vin number into the holden systen and it gives them the number daylight robbery to charge for it - either that our the dealer stealer doesn't give a rats about the customer !!!!
6 more months left of owning a Holden and I'm purchasing from a different Manufacturer yippy!!!!
