either a dead battery in the key which is the best case scenario or the body control module has died and won't recognise the key or do any of the other things you mentioned. Mine did exactly that. Cost about $500, but I don't remember if that included 2 new keys at $75 each or not. You need new keys with a new module as they have to be matched to each other and can't be reprogrammed to another module otherwise they'd be too easy to steal.

Once my new key wouldn't work electronically but when I manually opened the door by putting the key in the lock and turning and then put key in ignition and turned it, it started and after driving around for a while it was ok. It was the spare key and hadn't been used for months, so I can only assume that the battery in the key is rechargeable and had gone flat but charged up while driving.

Good luck and I seriously hope it is only the key battery.

I'm with hovo as I have had the same experience, although it is not quite clear from the original post whether the engine is not cranking over, or is cranking over and not starting. If it's the latter and the security light is flashing while it is cranking over then the immobiliser is not turning off and that probably means replacing the BCM.
