vt wll not turn off help pls

hi every one i got a 1997 ser 1 5 speed manual vt an it wil not turn off it is like the key is stuck in on position but when i stall it all the engine light an shit still on so i got to disconect the battery but it starts fine and the key turns fine and comes out fine any help pls cheers

Sounds like the switch part of the ignition barrel is buggered. This happen everytime?

I'd say around $30 - $50

If you change it yourself be mindful of the airbag (if you have one) if you start taking the steering wheel off.

Remember, before working on any car with an airbag, disconnect the battery!

So it does not log any error codes while you have things apart!
