Motor Cut out alternator light on

I have a VX11 2002 V6 supercharged. Was travelling up a hill the super cut in and then lost all power. Engine stopped and alternator light was on. Pulled over, turned off ignition and she started all ok. This has never happened before, owned car 3 years. Since this incident 3 days ago no problems. Any ideas???

My Brothers VR Did the same thing. Turned out the Alternator Died in it, Had it rebuilt for $120 and battery had to be recharged. No Probs Since. It did display the light on the dash a few times on and off for a month before it finally died though.

replace the crank angle sensor, its known for doing these kind of things
