G'day again,
I posted a thread a couple of days ago in regards to a 'whining' 'moaning' sound from the vx. Whilst investigating this problem I seemed to have discovered possibly another.
The only way I can describe it is that when I switch the engine off it seems to make an 'exhale' sound. Almost like it's 'breathing' out. It lasts maybe 1 second!! I have never noticed it before. Is this normal.
The car is fairly stock apart from exhaust, extractors, K&N air filter, and dual fuel.
I gave the air filter and throttle body a clean the other day. Could it be related?
Thanks.
i've had a vr and vs (both 5.0's) with K&N filters and CAI setups that did the exhale thing every time i shut them down, both cars ran well, never gave me any engine trouble so i can only assume its a normal thing
has anything else changed like power loss, rough running ect
I had a cracked brake booster which would make a hissing sound with the car off as the air escaped from it.
it sounds like it is the induction noise. This happens on all cars some more then others. You said you have a K&N filter, this would make it more noticable. If you are ever near a V8 listen to it when it turns off.
INNAWE (in awe)
Noun 1. awe - an overwhelming feeling of wonder or admiration; "he stared over the edge with a feeling of awe"
2. awe - a feeling of profound respect for someone or something; "the fear of God"; "the Chinese reverence for the dead"; "the French treat food with gentle reverence"; "his respect for the law bordered on veneration"
it tend to happen to people with pod filters more from cars with pods that i hear

Thanks guys. The car runs fine. Like I said I recently gave the filter and the throttle body a clean and both were pretty dirty. I think it might be the induction sound.
Cheers.
the compressed air in at least one cylinder has to escape somewhere that is what the noise is just the pressure bleeding out
