Hey Guys.
Does anyone run Bougicord Leads in there Cars? Apparently they are OEM Lead Supplier for holden. Are they good? Apparently they are World leader in OEM Leads.
Cheers.
Yeah they are good leads. Not sure about them being supplier for Holden. Possibly. Email them and they will tell you.
Genunine Holden leads are very good anf the firmest fitting boot I've come across. Yes they are made by Bougicord

Well thats great to know. I like to Stick to Genunine Parts, Ever since i got the missis's VR getting 700Kms to a tank of Fuel with Genunine service parts, Only 63ltr too, Better then the VX, only 600kms to 75 ltrs, wtf? lol
Cheers Guys.
all the leads from VS onwards are made by bougicord, think they changed to ACdelco in the later LSx motors tho
the supercharged 6 leads are better than the eagle 8.8mm ones, half the size too!
Check the resista2ce and you will find they are around 6000 ohms per metre. There are heaps better after market leads out there down to 800 ohms per metre. Certainly gives a bigger spark at the plug.
Yes, some aftermarket leads are better than genuine. Scorcher, Ice, MSD, Magnecore to name the best. Yes some genuine parts are better, but they in no way would contribute to your mileage etc. Holden, GM rarely make their own stuff. AC Delco make alot of it, Oil filters are made by someone in Poland, alot of electrics are Bosch or Delco, brake systems etc are all after market PBR, some resevoirs have Japanese writing on them. The engine oil is not theirs, same as every other car maker, its rebottled Fuchs, Valvoline etc. Holden make cars, and parts would mainly be body parts and fittings is original. Tyres are aftermarket.
Back to leads, most peopel when going to LPG change the leads from stock to Stainless steel as they provide a better spark not needed for most petrol cars. When performance and compression is upped, then leads and plugs start to matter.
Whats the best leads for supercharged VT 6? all I've seen is Bosch's, all others are made to order....
Are you serious ? Theres heaps, Bosch, Eagle and all the others listed. Where are you located ? Leads are not car specific, its all the same, more that you are running as a fuel and so on. I am running Scorcher Ignition leads, 5 year warrantly, the guys are some of the best in the business, old school, done heaps real race cars etc, based in Nunawading, Melbourne. Use good quality jacket material, i run the leads without the metal heat sheilds as not needed. I need good leads for LPG. I used Bosch, good leads, but the boots fail eventually, well mine did anyway. Then i run the Bosch LPG plugs, 0.7mm gap, they are new type, theory etc. Gaps previously were only ever 1.3mm down from 1.5mm. My brother in law runs the same leads on his super 6 VX, and loves them. I got some of them Blue Bosch Performance Leads for a Vn v6 from Raceparts on line for like $40. THey are better quality than the black ones. I think the Raptor or Mace guys run them. THey are thick and have excellent boot ends. MSD leads or Magnecore are excellent too, i think Magnecore have lifetime warranty. NGK, Eagle, all have on the shelf leads for the Super 6.
Well I got My GM Service pack today with the new Leads, below 5.5k ohms per meter. Seem good quality. Let yas know how they go. here is the pack on ebay if anyone is interested. Dont have the time to go round up the parts hehe
Holden Commodore VT VX VY Full Service kit Genuine - eBay Other Filters, Filters, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 11-Nov-09 16:07:54 AEDST)
Just what i have noticed with spark Plugs, I Did use the standard Bosch plugs, Then switched to GM Holden Plugs, gained at least a extra 100kms to a tank, Same in the VR. So Might be something to think about when you service ya cars next, and They are only $4.50 a plug, Cheaper to !
Just have to get my hands on the stupid quick release fuel line tool :-/ Now
Thanks Guys :-)
Seems nice and easy that package. 100kms to a tank is a huge gain, with just plugs, whatelse did you do, was it plugs only change ? Some Bosch plugs to run a smaller gap from standard which could effect things. THe sticker on my VX gives part numbers for NGK, Denso or AC-Delco, which are all factory spec for Holden. Their plugs could be made by any of them more likely AC-Delco.
Well I discovered this When I had Holden Serviced My Car, When I first got it, just to do a check over of everything, And got them to service it. Just Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, and GM Plugs. So After 10,000, I serviced my Self, Just Oil, Oil Filter, and Bocsh Plugs, as it seem to be running a bit ruff i thought.
Then Noticed i was only getting a max of 500 kms and that was driving very light footed also.
So After 6,000kms i tossed the GM plugs back in and dring with a boot full everynow and then, was always getting 600kms easy. So When i serviced the VR, Tossed GM plugs in, and also gained at least 100kms (it to had Bosch Plugs in it ). So I dont know what the Go Is But from now im sticking to GM hehe.
Yes The package is good considering When i asked Holden for a Set of leads they wanted $112 Bucks :0
Well I finally Got around to servicing the car, Found out the car had Bougicord leads already on lol.
So Anyway, Anyone else have trouble with the Plastic Tube that cover leads 2 4 6 and run through under the Alternator ? I decided Zip ties work just as well cause the tube would not expand to put the leads back in and impossible to feed them back under all at once lol. Over All Car starts much better and can't feel it idle ( Dances ) lol
Oh the Fuel Filter, How is it quick release when it takes 30 mins even with the tool, oh, and wear goggles, lesson learnt, was not me that learnt the lesson though lol
