Default Car over heating when Air Conditioner goes on

    Hey Guys,

Was coming home from a friends place today when my car started to over heat. I saw it leaking coolant from where it looked like the bottom radiator hose. So I changed that when i got home with one i know is still in good condition. I filled it up with coolant and it was running at normal temperature without the fan goes. I put the Air conditioner on and it starts to climb to Hot. My thermo Fans stay on until it cools down (Even with the motor off and the key out). Any ideas on what this could be? I also just replaced the Thermo stat and Thermo stat gasket.

    Cheers

Not sure bout commodores cant even remember lol but most cars have two sets of fans.
One is in circuit with water temp some how and other with a/c.
Whenever the ac is turned on the fan will come on no mater what temp.
I have feeling the coms only have one but work on same principal.
Just try leave your car running without ac on for good 15mins or so and youl see the thermo fans come on and off.
You shouldnt be worried as be what your saying everything is doing their job and the car is not overheating..

Sounds like you have an air lock. Start the car and wait until it comes up to operating temp, then undo the bleed screw on the thermostat (one word) and wait until you have a steady stream of coolant coming out. Make sure the radiator is full and the expansion tank is full too. Don't take the cap off the radiator while you are doing this.

    Hey Not an Abba Fan,

Looks like it was a seal on the Radiator cap, so i replaced it with one i knew that was in good condition, turned the Air Conditioner on and it stayed at normal temp (Just below half way). Had bled the Thermostat housing when i replaced the Thermostat. Probably wouldn't hurt to do it again, seeing as though i have replaced the bottom radiator hose.

    Cheers
