    Default Camshaft

Planning on putting in a camshaft to my LS1 but not too sure what it entails. Has anyone had this done? If so, what can I expect and prices. Thank, Nathan.

i had a cam done in mine 2 years ago
    there is a few options
    you could go
    a basic install would be
    *cam
    *valve spring
    *tune

    extras would be
    *hardened push rods
    *under drive pulley
    *double row timing chain
    *Ti retainers

a usual cam install is around 3k
    cheers GM

Hey, I am considering the same, to go with new heads and valvetrain.
Pac springs can handle .600 and roller rockers are 1.8, but at what point
in cam spec's, (duration and lift) will I start to have a problem with valves
    contacting standard pistons?
Will a standard LS1 grind, albeit HSV GTS spec,
cause problems? (thinking around 207/217 116 LSA 0.500" int/exh lift?)
Can't find any information that suggests GTS has pistons machined to
    compensate for valve clearance.
Please correct me if I'm wrong or share your knowledge in regard to a medium street
grind you personally know works well.
As for price, CNC heads, springs and valves, stainless roller rockers, new head bolt kit, $2500
I hope to pay $1500 - 1700 for Cam, roller lifters, d row chain, rods and underdrive.
install maybe $500 or $600, then another bloody tune...
    Have fun...
P.S. Have you considered Nitrous, only $1000 and you can do it yourself....

you wont have any issues with a GTS cam and cnc'd heads
just make shore its a after market cam ground to GTS specs
as the original GTS cams are weak as piss

there have been people who have fitted 242/248 cams to standard motors without any fly cutting needed to the pistons
but you wouldnt fit a cam that big with milled heads
a good street cam is mid 220's like 224/228
