Quick, Cheap mod to make VT quicker? Thinking Diff ratio's...

Gday guys. Ive been chatting to a mate about what i could do to my car to give it a bit more take off on the cheap and he suggested changing the diff gears. Makes sense i guess?

any idea how much this will cost to do? I don't want to spend alot of money as it isn't in hugest demand!

He suggested getting a LSD + Higher Diff gears... unless somebody knows another mod that would be cheap and have a noticeable impact?

What are your thoughts on the LSD + Ratio Changing?

Yer lsd combined with higher gears will give it a bit more punch but i wouldn't say it'd be overly cheap unless you knew somebody, and also your fuel bill would prob go up a bit, also have you thought doin cold air? prob one of the cheaper mods.

Havn't thought about a CAI...Ive only slapped on a exhaust and a k and n panel filter. Made very very little difference. Will a CAI really make up a big difference?

Looking at the best mod that i will feel under $1000.
Ive been doin a quick search and 3.7-3.9's seem the way to go. Fuel econ wont' worry to much as i don't think i will really loose a heap of km per 100km...i do mostly around town driving at the moment, not much highway.

Yer CAI prob wont give you a great deal of power jump, but as you mentioned with money cost anything that gives you a big power increase usually also increases the hole in your bank account lol. 3.9's are the go if your gonna get the gears, and fuel doesn't worry ya.

And when you say exhaust slapped on, are you meaning just a cat back job or have you got a full system on it?

I just have a catback system. Redback 2.5" Single muffler.

How hard are 3.9's to get? and would it be worth getting the LSD as well? Any idea on costs, because overall that the deciding factor

The Diff and gears arn't that hard to come by, i don't no the exact price but i remember my mate putting in a lsd with 4.11's and im sure he spent at least $1000 on it.

With your exhaust, i've heard that putting extractors on can be a rewarding mod with performance and of course having a nice note lol, so that could be another option for under $1000??

You could probably easily get a 100hp nos kit for around $1000, that will liven things up

go online n buy a second hand 346 lsd for under 450 bucks would be good score i was lucky got 1 for $350... ur speedo would go out a bit.. far as i know all diffs should fit jus gotta change tail shafts.. thats where i need help i hav a 346 lsd out of vt ls1 to go into vx v6
