99,VT. V6 to V8 transplant.

hi guys can you help,
I have a 99 VT 3.8 auto, I want to put a 5ltr with auto out of a 92 VP in it, is changing the engine mounts all that needs doing for it to drop in, or does the 5ltr VT have a different cross member to the V6 3.8 model.

Im not sure if legally your allowed to do this due to EPA rules etc...

I know they are both 5L V8s (essentially the same) but the VP engine numbers were VU-###### while the VT are VM-###### (according to redbook anyway).

Id ring Vicroads (depending on state) and find out if you can legally make this change before starting any work.

No, you will need a new K-frame.

The VT and VP 5 litre's had a different setup. Look through this thread - vt v6 to 304 v8 conversion
