Hi guys, has anyone heard of someone putting an L98 into a VX ? If so, was it a lot of trouble? and did it run up a big cost ?

Cheers, Snowy.

it would cost a bit atleast 10k if you did all the labour yourself

4500 engine
$500-1500 loom and ecu mods off a ls1 (really not sure about exactly what you would use)
$2500 t56
$750 clutch
$100 engine mounts
$250-600 tail shaft

thats kinda ruff costs on what i have seen prices on things.

Cheers, Snowy.

does your VX already have a LS1?
if not it wouldnt be worth it
do you want to do the conversion your self or drive in drive out package

you could get it done drive in drive out for around 9-$10k

OP's last login was 2010, and at that stage his car was a VZ SV6, so I doubt he did it and I doubt you'll here a reply.

Just found this and decided to dig it up, has anyone put an l98 into an ls1
car? Did the gearbox bolt up from the 6l80e to the 4l60e?

Sounds like a good conversion and theres a few ve motors knocking around now,
dressed, for reasonable amounts of money.

I found a bit of info saying the throttle body would need changing (ve is fly by wire)
and a few other things, but no mention of gearboxes etc.

you'd have to use the tranny from the car its going into ( I'm assuming vuss ? in which case a 4l60e ), it will bolt up, throttlebody will have to be changed to a 4 bolt cable 90mm, you'll also need adapters for knock, map, injector's and cam sensors and either change out the reluctor wheel and cam gear ( l98 is 58 tooth , x4 cam) (is1 is 24 tooth x2 cam ) or a converter box.
