Crap, i thought it was something else! So do you mean a radiator flush is in order?

nah just top up the radiator turn the heater onto hot start the car from cold wait for the hoses to build pressure and the engine to warm up then crack the bleed nipple on the thermostat housing and close it when air stops coming out may have to do it a few times to get it all outjust once theres no pressure in there from expanding water its easiest to let it cool down and do it again

to bled the cooling system correctly raise the coolant level above the bleeder nipple , simply topping up the rad and running will not remove the air 100% from the cooling sytem . use a funnel that will raise the coolant level above the bleeder nipple and while the engine is cold open the bleeder until water comes out close the bleeder and remove the funnel system is now bleed , check overflow bottle level .
this applies to most v6's from series 2 vn onwards but not super chargered models different way to bleed them .

apart from you just left the whole heater assembly full of air just do it how its meant to be done no funnels etc will get it all out easy as air rises the bleeder is the highest point for that reason and to get the air out the heater the engine has to be running and the temp setting turned to hot

What do u mean the supercharger models need to be bled differently? I flushed the system and opened all the bleed screws and left it open till water came out of all the bleed screws... is that wrong? I haven't had any issues like heating or anything?

thanks for the post- i have noticed the same problem during the last month. I am also losing coolant in my VT gradually and have been told it can be due to a crack in the engine block- no leaks found when it was flushed and radiator replaced. I've been told something different by every mechanic I have been to however as I am not one I don't know what to believe. Any advice would be appreciated.
