    Default inside rear tyre wear

    Hi guys,

Was just checking out the other day the back tyres on my VX2 calais the inside edge is wearing a lot faster than the rest of the tyre. Its got 17s on it instead of the standard 16s, i wonder if this is the cause and needs an alignment done on it.

    cheers

you most likely need a camber kit, as mentioned. if you have standard springs in the car, it should have no problem with only a wheel allignment,

superlows, fe2, ultras etc etc mean you need a camber kit to even tyre wear.

If your going to spend money on a wheel alignment - pop in a new set of springs in the rear. (the originals are probably sagging just a little too much)

not much mate about 60 bucks each side but you have to drop you diff cradle (k frame) to install them and it's not a fun job and will cost you alot to pay the guy at your local tyre shop, so for FE2 springs it's not worth it just check your tyres every couple of months and remeber to get the tyre fliped on the rim before they get to bad. you should get an evesy 18months outta your tyres without a kit and flipping tyres

camber kits only adjust the camber by about 3degrees, doesnt do a great deal.. takes the pros about 4 hours to fit a camber kit.. i have a vx series 2. with fe2 suspension, and 18's one of the back tires is a nankang, and the inside part of the tread has actually torn off.. i dont recoment any1 buy these tires unless your doin skids..

you will gwt wear. i have fe2 on my wagon and it wears alot. i have 20's and im not getting much use of them. you really need to get your guards rolled and then a inner and outer camber castor kit which will get the wheels down to maybe 1 degree and the standard for commodores is between 2 and 3.5 degrees

Have had 3 camber kits fitted and still wearing inside of rear tyres. Is a common problem(fault) that should have been addressed before manufacture. Have had 17's and 18's wear out. VX S2 were upgraded and adjustable.

VXII has rear toe control whereas as earlier models don't. If the car is at standard height and the springs n shockers are in good condition a good allignment from someone that understands holden irs will keep good even tyre wear.
