Stiff steering in water

I was driving around tonight and its been raining and when going through water the steering becomes stiff for a few seconds. Does anyone know what the problem is? Its almost as if there is no power steering...

hahahaha what do u expect when u get more resistance when your going through water. its normal every car does that same. its like two big bitches putting force on your rims, its gonna be harder to move

We'll I've had 2 other cars and this has never happend before. Its not a huge flood of water, its just splashes. Ya know... And its dangerous cos I had to do a wide turn cos I wasnt expecting it.

Have you a tight p/ steering pump and the belt slips momentarily when it gets wet . ?????

Could be a loose or worn power steering belt that slips when it gets a bit of water on it.
