Exclamation Changing vx diff do you have to unbolt the whole rear end or just the diff unit

HEY people im just changing the diff in my vx and i have done it before but its when i

done all the bushes too,so i removed the whole rear end i was just curious as to if

you can just unbolt the diff its self (the 4 bolts that hold it to the cradle) it looks pretty tight

up there but you might just get tools in, it would be a alot quicker then taken the whole

rear set up out lol and lighter ,any help would be great cheers guys

You have to take the exhaust out and unbolt the driveshaft, so if it turns out that you have to at least drop the cradle a bit, then you are already half way there.
I'm about to change my cradle soon and from what i've seen under there you will probably just have to use a spanner to undo those 4 big bolts.
I would like to know a definative answer to this question as I don't think I will be able to get an LSD cheap enough before then, so will probably be changing the diff after the conversion.

you just unbolt the drive shaft , drop that off .
then just drop the 2 other shafts on either side i think there is 6 bolts each side ( the ones that go to the wheels , wish i could rember there names .
then just drop the 4 big bolts that hold it up but you have to take of the sensor wires that are on it as i think they go to the abs units or some shit ( not sure really )
its not hard well it wasn't on the v6 as it has only the 1 exhaust pipe.
but should still be a peace of cake on a v8 its the same stuff really .

nice and simple should be able to drop it out in a hour easy

Its not that hard to drop the k-frame. Using a hoist & air tools I dropped mine in about 30mins. Yes you can get onto the top bolts but you'll find they'll be ****ing tight all the way out. Holden like their Locktite.
