I've just installed a new HID kit, problem is its not turning on at all... I've check the fuses, its running two 20A fuses for each of the headlamps. Now im thinking the battery needs a stronger fuse, the instruction manual says to use more than 60Ah if it does not turn on. Any advise? Thanks.
Now i have another issue.. Only one high beam is working and every time i turn that one on it blows a headlight fuse... what the??
Try swapping the 2 wires around as i think the high beam is earth switched i had the same problem in mine when i put the HOD in the high beam. Didnt work first up till i swapped the wires around the ones that run the factory globe.
he is referring to where you wire it on the head light, you need to reverse the wires, on my VY it has the little plug and the bigger plug inside the headlight its self but it had to be swapped around. all i did was reverse the wires in the plug that connects to the inverter box.
hope that helps,
I had a similar thing with my VX. Just get yourself a test light or a volt meter and check the polarity of the wire's your using. I had to reverse my connections to what seem intuitively correct. But definately invest in a volt meter, a million and one uses.
Yea ive got myself a test light, so what do you suggest i do? Sorry i wouldn't know two things about electrical issues and wires... The way i see it is that the product is reversed meaning positive and negative should really be the other way around, so should i swap the wires going to the ballast and the headlight loom or what?? Im fkn stuck!![]()
All good mate, don't stress![]()
What you do, connect your lead from your test light to the chassis (ground) then with the probe, just touch the contacts or wires you want to know about. If it doesn't light up, it's either negative (ground/black) or it's not on (You'll have two positive's at this point, one will be your low beam and one will be your parkers. To check you have the right one, just turn your headlight switch back one to parkers and check that the probe has turned off). So, start with your low beams, when you find the wire that makes the probe light up, that one will then connect to the positive of the ballast. Then connect the lead of your probe to the positive you've just found, then probe the other connections until it lights up again. That will be your earth. Plug that to the black of your ballast. Now, with any luck, it'll light up! Then rinse and repeat for your high beams, if your doing them (remember to flick your stalk forward for the high beams to turn on) and then onto the other side.
DONE!!!... So what i did was i randomly found the positive and negative sides on the factory loom doing to the the head light, luckily one side said 'ground' so that eliminated one, then i got some wire with a little clip type thing and connected it to the positive and negative of the plug from the ballast! F*ck yes!!! Thanks for the help guys, i was about to throw in the towel.
